BMW and Kennedy Yanko Bring Sculptural Power to Art Basel Miami Beach 2025

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – December 10, 2025 – When BMW returns to Art Basel Miami Beach 2025, it isn’t just bringing VIP shuttles and sleek badges – it’s arriving with a full-on art statement, created in collaboration with acclaimed sculptor Kennedy Yanko and inspired by the 738-hp BMW XM Label.

Where art fair glamour meets automotive muscle

As Art Basel’s Official Global Automotive Partner, BMW has turned Miami Beach into a rolling gallery once again from December 5 to 7, 2025. The brand’s presence goes far beyond simple logo placement: Art Basel First Choice VIP guests are chauffeured between venues in BMW’s flagship models, while the centerpiece activation explores how metal, motion and design can all tell the same story.

Kennedy Yanko, known for transforming industrial materials and her signature “paint skins” into fluid, almost impossibly soft-looking forms, created a sculptural installation that pays homage to the expressive spirit of the BMW XM Label. Her work channels the performance SUV’s bold duality – raw power and luxury comfort – into something you can walk around, feel and experience at eye level rather than from behind the wheel.

This latest collaboration builds on a relationship that started back in 2021, when Yanko helped unveil the BMW XM Concept during Art Basel Miami Beach, previewing the daring design language that now defines the production BMW XM Label.

An intimate encounter with sculpture, color and speed

To celebrate the partnership, BMW is hosting an intimate event on December 4, offering invited guests close-up access to Yanko’s new piece and its four-wheeled counterpart. A BMW XM Label finished in striking Santorini Blue by BMW Individual sets the tone, mirroring the drama and energy of her sculptural forms.

Yanko is joined by Hussein Al Attar, Director of Automotive Design at Designworks in Santa Monica, who brings the design studio’s perspective on how cars can be read as sculptures in motion. Together, they explore the shared language between art and automotive design – from the way surfaces catch the light to the emotional impact of a single, perfectly drawn line or curve.

“It’s always a joy to work with BMW, a partner that understands how design can move people—literally and emotionally. My conversation with Hussein about the shared language between sculpture and automotive design revealed compelling parallels in how we each shape materials to express power, motion, and intention,” said Yanko.

What makes Kennedy Yanko a natural fit for BMW?
Her practice transforms heavy, industrial materials into dynamic, fluid forms – a perfect artistic echo of the BMW XM Label, which mixes massive performance with expressive, sculpted design.

Why does BMW keep coming back to Art Basel?
BMW has been deeply involved in art and culture for over 50 years, and Art Basel’s global reach in Miami Beach, Basel, Hong Kong, Paris and Qatar gives the brand a stage where creativity, design and innovation naturally intersect.

What’s special about the BMW XM Label at this event?
Finished in vivid Santorini Blue, the BMW XM Label serves as a physical extension of Yanko’s installation, showing how color, surface and stance can be just as expressive on the street as they are in a gallery.

How does this connect to BMW’s broader art legacy?
From the iconic BMW Art Car Collection (with artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein) to long-running partnerships with cultural institutions, BMW treats art not as a side project, but as part of its identity and its way of imagining the future.
